I Want a Pink Craftroom
October 19, 2023
My craftroom over these past four years has gone through so many design changes. And as I grow or go through phases in life, my room changes with me. When I started crafting back in 2012, I was crocheting and knitting and my room didn't look like much.
I did that for about 3 years and then once I moved into cardmaking, I began to want to change the look of the room I was crafting in and it was whites, creams and pale colors. I still love those and white will always be part of my creative space.
I know that I'm weird probably by saying this, but I want a pink craftroom! Pink is my favorite color, and let me clarify this: I don't love all pink shades. I'm on the cooler, lighter side of pink.
Why Pink?
For one, it's a calming, soothing color. I'm convinced that certain colors can change your mood. When I replaced my black glass media mat with a white with pink peonies, my whole demeanor changed. I crafted much more, I wanted to create everyday. I loved looking at my mat and I use it for everything. It can handle any art medium I use, it cleans nicely.
It was pricey, but worth every penny. From there, I started replacing little by little my supplies to pink... (a) inboxes, (b) tape dispenser, (c) calculator, (d) tablet holder, (e) my typewriter for my tablet, (f) phone cases/holders, (g) scissors, (h) hole puncher, (i) desk fan, (j) pencil holders, (k) small bins; (l) silk flowers; (m) project bags, (n) magazine holders, (l) large bins for my felt, (o) pillow for my visitor chair and (p) my PC wallpapers.
The rest are white or some other neutral color and I do like white marble and rose gold so there's accents of those color mixed in. I also love mint and pale blue. I also love pink because it is a happy color. And I want my future craftroom to be a happy place. It will be the room I work in as well so for it to be inviting when I come in only makes it that much more comfortable.
I plan to build a dressing room with my Asian screens and dress it up with fairy lights and a white silk curtain.
